Sustainable Water Infiltration Solution

The Polystorm PSM1A 190L Storm Soakaway Crate is a fantastic solution for managing excess rainwater. It’s designed to prevent flooding and waterlogging by quickly absorbing surface water and allowing it to dissipate into the ground. This crate is perfect for both light and heavy-duty applications, including areas with traffic and heavy loads. Its modular design makes it versatile and easy to install, so you can configure it to meet your specific site requirements. Made from virgin material, the Polystorm PSM1A is an eco-friendly choice for sustainable water management and is SuDS compliant.

Key Features When Using PSM1A

  • High Compressive Strength: The Polystorm PSM1A can support up to 44 tonnes/m² vertical load, making it strong and reliable for various applications.
  • Versatile Applications: It’s ideal for water retention, attenuation, and infiltration when used with a suitable geomembrane or geotextile.
  • Designed for Trafficked Conditions: This crate is engineered to withstand trafficked and loaded conditions, making it perfect for car parks and commercial areas.
  • BBA Approved: Certified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) for quality and performance.
  • Visual and Maintenance Access: You can achieve visual and maintenance access when used with Polystorm Access & Inspect.
  • Hybrid System Compatibility: It can be integrated into a hybrid system with Polystorm Xtra and Polystorm Lite for enhanced performance.
  • Integrated Inlet and Outlet: Features integrated inlet and outlet for efficient water flow.
  • 3D Flow Structure: Ensures 3D flow throughout the structure for optimal water management.
  • High Void Ratio: Provides a 95% void ratio for maximum water capture and storage.
  • Recyclable Material: Made from 100% recyclable materials, contributing to sustainability.
  • Long Life Expectancy: Offers a 50 years creep limited life expectancy, ensuring long-term reliability.

What Can PSM1A Be Used For

The Polystorm PSM1A 190L Storm Soakaway Crate is designed for surface water retention, attenuation, and infiltration. It’s ideally suited for use under trafficked or loaded areas such as car parks, housing, and commercial developments. The modular cells can be built up to form a load-bearing tank structure of any shape or size, receiving rainwater collected from gutter systems or surface drains and releasing it within a set discharge limit.

What Types of Benefits Do PSM1A Bring To Your Project

  • Efficient Water Management: The high void ratio and 3D flow structure ensure optimal water capture and management.
  • Durability: The high compressive strength and long life expectancy make it a reliable solution for long-term projects.
  • Sustainability: Made from recyclable materials and designed for sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), it contributes to environmental conservation.
  • Versatility: Suitable for various applications, including retention, attenuation, and infiltration, making it a flexible solution for different project needs.
  • Ease of Maintenance: Visual and maintenance access features ensure easy inspection and upkeep.

Technical Specifications Per Crate

How To Install A PSM1A Crate

  1. Site Preparation: Make sure the installation site is properly excavated and levelled. The ground conditions should be dense sand and gravel with no groundwater present.
  2. Base Layer: Lay a suitable geomembrane or geotextile on the base of the excavation to prevent soil ingress.
  3. Crate Assembly: Assemble the Polystorm PSM1A crates by connecting the modular cells using the provided clips and shear connectors.
  4. Placement: Place the assembled crates in the excavation, ensuring they are aligned correctly and securely positioned.
  5. Backfilling: Backfill around the crates with suitable material, ensuring even distribution and compaction.
  6. Surface Layer: Apply a final layer of geomembrane or geotextile over the crates before covering with the desired surface material (e.g., soil, gravel, or pavement).
  7. Inspection: Conduct a final inspection to ensure proper installation and functionality.
