Aluminium Threshold Drainage Channel System
Slimline Surface Drain for Thresholds, Patios and Paved Areas
The Alusthetic aluminium threshold drain is a low profile modular channel for managing water at entrances, patios and paved walkways. The 65mm wide PVC body pairs with an aluminium heelguard grate in silver, black or mottled black, giving you a discreet finish that sits neatly against door thresholds and paved edges.
Straightforward installation for domestic projects
You dig a 15cm trench, lay a stabilised sand base and position the channel. Use the built in side outlet at either end or drill a 45mm hole for a bottom outlet. Channels cut cleanly with a handsaw, and you can solvent weld joints where needed for a watertight seal.
Backfill to the finished paving height with the grate left in place. Corner units, T pieces and end caps clip in securely. Fit a trap when connecting into a foul drainage line.

Accessories
Outlet Adaptors and Couplings
These adaptors link the Alusthetic outlets to standard underground pipe sizes. They make it easy to join into existing drainage or change direction where needed.
Fits the 50mm side outlet on the end cap. Used to turn into pipe runs where space is tight.
Steps the 50mm side outlet up to 110mm underground pipe.
Used with the bottom connector when you need a vertical outlet into 110mm pipe.
Polypipe UG621 (160mm to 110mm Reducer)
Handy on sites where older or larger pipework reduces before joining the system.
Where these are used
- Connecting 50mm or 80mm Alusthetic outlets to 110mm pipe.
- Changing direction at door thresholds.
- Stepping down oversized pipework into a standard run.
Channel and System Add Ons
Bottom Connector (with or without 80mm outlet)
Joins channel sections or provides a bottom discharge point.
End Caps (with or without 50mm outlet)
Finishes channel ends neatly or creates a side outlet.
Sits beneath the outlet to catch sediment and protect the pipework.
A simple pair used to remove the grate for cleaning.
Solvent Weld
For watertight joints on PVC connections, choose:
125ml for small runs.
250ml for larger installations.
FAQs
Can I cut the channels to size
Yes. Cut with a handsaw, then refit the end cap on the cut end.
How do the channels join together
They butt together and secure using a bottom connector. Use solvent weld if you want a watertight joint.
Can this connect to my existing drainage
Yes. Use the 50mm or 80mm outlet with adaptors to link into 110mm pipe. Reducers are available for larger or older pipe sizes.
Will this sit flush with my doorway
Yes. The channel is designed to match finished paving height and meet Part M access guidance.
Is maintenance easy
Yes. Lift the grate using the lifting keys, clear debris and refit.
