The TCS Tensar SS Series biaxial geogrid is designed for soil reinforcement and aggregate stabilisation in civil engineering and construction projects. Available in SS20, SS30, and SS40 grades, these geogrids provide long-lasting ground support for pavements, working platforms, and foundations.

Tensar SS geogrids are stiff, monolithic grids with integral junctions, orientated in two directions to deliver balanced strength and stability. The biaxial rib structure interlocks with aggregate, controlling lateral movement and distributing loads efficiently across weak or variable soils.

Typical Benefits

  • Reduced aggregate thickness and excavation
  • Faster, more economical construction
  • Improved bearing capacity and surface stability
  • Control of settlement and rutting
  • Long-term chemical and biological resistance

Common Applications

  • Highways, access roads, and car parks
  • Temporary crane and piling platforms
  • Rail track beds
  • Airport runways and aprons
  • Coastal and river defence bunds
  • Waste management and landfill capping
  • Ground stabilisation over weak subgrades

Available Sizes

  • TCS Tensar SS20 Geogrid – 3.8m × 75m
  • TCS Tensar SS30 Geogrid – 3.8m × 50m
  • TCS Tensar SS40 Geogrid – 3.8m × 30m

Technical Specifications

  • Polymer: Polypropylene, minimum 2% carbon black for UV protection

    • SS20: 44–46 kg
    • SS30: 64–67 kg
    • SS40: 62–65 kg
  • Resistant to soil acids, alkalis, salts, bacteria, and fungi
  • Manufactured under ISO 9001 Quality Management

Installation Notes

  • Lay directly on prepared subgrade after removing sharp protrusions
  • Place above geotextile (if specified) to ensure proper interlock
  • Maintain overlaps of 300–600mm depending on ground conditions
  • Cover immediately with granular fill – minimum 150mm first layer
  • Avoid trafficking directly on uncovered geogrid

FAQs

What is the difference between SS20, SS30, and SS40?

The numbers refer to tensile strength (20, 30, and 40 kN/m respectively). Higher grades are suited to heavier load and more demanding applications.

Can Tensar SS geogrids be used under permanent structures?

Yes, they are commonly used under roads, railways, and foundations where long-term reinforcement is required.

How are rolls joined on site?

Overlaps of 300–600mm are used, depending on soil and subbase stiffness. Small heaps of fill help maintain overlaps during installation.

Do I need specialist equipment for installation?

No, standard site machinery (excavator, dozer, roller) is sufficient. Heavy duty gloves are recommended for handling.

Are these geogrids resistant to chemicals in soil?

Yes, they are inert to naturally occurring soil chemicals and resistant to acids, alkalis, and salts.
